About Engine Bay

Built With Purpose.

IMG_6668.jpg

The idea for Engine Bay was inspired by the grit, precision, and camaraderie found inside a firehouse - specifically the engine bay, where preparation, trust, and attention to detail matter most. That inspiration is personal. Our founder’s fiancé is a Cherokee County Firefighter, and through him, we’ve gained a deep respect for the dedication and sacrifice that define the fire service.

Those same values are woven into everything we do.

Engine Bay Barber Company is a modern barber shop rooted in tradition - where craftsmanship and consistency come first. We believe a great haircut is more than a service; it’s an experience built on trust, confidence, and care. From the moment you walk in, our goal is to provide a refined, welcoming space where you can relax and leave feeling your best.

While our inspiration began with firefighters, our appreciation extends to all heroes - first responders, military, educators, healthcare workers, and anyone who shows up every day to serve their community. We’re proud to honor that commitment through the way we operate our business and the experience we provide.

At Engine Bay, every detail matters. Every cut is intentional. And every client is treated with respect.

We’re not just building a barber shop - we’re building a place grounded in purpose, pride, and community.

Engine Bay Barber Company is something that grew naturally out of both of our worlds.

I (Brittany) own and operate Practically Perfect Salon & Spa right next door, and I’ve been behind the chair doing hair since 2021. While we’ve always offered men’s services at the salon, we noticed that most of our male clients were actually coming in through their wives or families. The salon has a beautiful space, but it’s definitely a more feminine environment, and we knew there was an opportunity to create something specifically designed for men.

When the director of The Mill approached us about an available space nearby, it felt like the perfect moment to bring an idea our team had been talking about for a while to life - a barbershop.

Ben and I have been together since 2020, and he has been a firefighter with Cherokee County since 2023. When we started brainstorming what this shop could look and feel like, the idea of a firehouse-inspired barbershop came naturally. Fire stations are known for their camaraderie, sense of community, and the feeling that you can walk in and immediately belong. We wanted to recreate that kind of atmosphere.

Together, we designed Engine Bay to feel like a relaxed place people actually want to spend time in - somewhere you can get a great haircut, relax, and feel comfortable hanging out for a bit.

The space combines a modern, elevated barbering experience with the vintage character of an old firehouse. From the design to the culture of the shop, we wanted it to feel intentional, welcoming, and a little different from the typical barbershop experience.

Because of Ben’s career and the community around us, honoring and supporting the heroes in our area was also important to us. Firefighters, first responders, medical workers, teachers, and those who serve our community are a huge part of what inspired Engine Bay, and we’re proud to create a space that recognizes and respects them.

Engine Bay Barber Company sits just steps away from Practically Perfect, and the two businesses complement each other in a way that allows us to serve everyone - whether they’re looking for a full salon experience or a classic barbershop environment.

We’re excited to bring this vision to life and to create a place that feels like more than just a haircut.
